RORC De Guingand Bowl June 2020
In a fleet including some of the top race boats in the World, our IRC class will be closely fought
With our start from the RORC line off the Royal Yacht Squadron, passing some key navigational landmarks. A highly technical race at almost every stage, this is a great event for understanding how important race strategy is, and we will keep our crew up to date with briefings at each watch change.
It's going to be fun!
Join the Boat: Friday evening 05 June 2020 20:00hrs
Start: Haslar Marina, Gosport, 06 June 2020 07:00hrs (est)
Finish: Haslar Marina, Gosport, 07 June 2020 pm
The race crew meets on board on Friday evening, with a plan to arrive around 20:00 which gives us time to run through a full safety briefing, get the boat organised and discuss our race strategy and tactics over a glass of wine. Friday evening is when we finalise our starting crew positions and set up a buddy and watch system for newer or less experienced crew members.
With a race start of 10:00, we will leave the dock by 07:00 and head to Cowes for the start – breakfast on the way, as a crew sails on it’s stomach!
Once out of the Solent, we start our watch system early, with a 4 hours on 4 hours off rota in daylight and 3 hour watches at night.
Planning to arrive back late afternoon, once the boat is sorted out then head off after a fine offshore yacht race weekend.
