Race Training Weekend 28th and 29th September
These weekends are intended for any keen cruising sailors and we welcome anyone who would like to learn the skills and experience for racing offshore.
The training crew meets on board by 09:00 on Saturday morning, which gives us time to run through a full safety briefing, get the boat organised and discuss the itinerary for the session before heading out to the Solent. During the session we run through various crew positions and go over the deck layout and equipment in detail before a focus on manoeuvres, spinnaker hoists and boat speed.
We will stay in a Solent marinas overnight on Saturday, eating ashore, giving us time to discuss the session on Saturday and deciding on our focus for Sunday.
Throughout the weekend the crew will move around the boat, giving everyone the opportunity to experience helming upwind and downwind, main, headsail and spinnaker trim, mast and foredeck. Knowing what is entailed in each position makes teamwork so much better, regardless of the position each crew specialises in during the race season.
We will return to Haslar on Sunday leaving the boat in good time to miss most of the traffic on Sunday evening!
